Heliom released

Heliom is a turn-based roguelike with the graphical twist of using 3d graphics and some animations. The idea here was to get close to an action rpg regarding visuals but allowing you to get a coffee and think about the player's in-game position. The game takes place in the dungeon of a large citadel named Heliom. The background story is brutal (simple) - the liege (a medieval landowner) forces all elvish citizens to get back 4 tomes of magic within his citadel. These tomes are randomly placed within the dungeon so the player must search for them. Note - it is not necessary to kill everything to finish the game. As the tomes were heavily used, a lot of evil creates are lurking the dungeon.

Heliom uses the position based sneaking mechanic from the game Sil - but it is applied to fighting, too. For example when you are in the center of a room, swinging an axe is murderous, but using it in a cramped space might be problematic. Here, a spear or short sword will be a better weapon. Each turn, a player can move 2 spaces, or move and than attack. Some weapons are better when moving around, while others are better when standing still (a bow for example). Lastly, attacking straight or diagonal might provide a bonus, so you want to be in a certain angle to the enemy. As the enemy receives these bonuses, too, you want to avoid some situations.

Regarding enemy AI, the enemies will get tougher the deeper you go. Initially, they will not be able to open doors, but they will soon learn that followed by shouting for help, fleeing, closing doors on fleeing, tactical spreading out, firing homing-fireballs (enjoyed that in Brogue), omitting a players' kill position or even summoning help.

Regarding the initial release, there may be some problems that I did not find during testing, but I will focus on support and debugging right now. After that, some magic spells and the spell selection process will be overhauled. Following that, I will try to create my own character using blender - I already imported a puddle-like-character who actually executed all the animations within the game. Looks funny, but not the style I want for this.
